Meet Thies Hettema
Three is the magic number
My name is Thies Hettema. I was born and raised in Culemborg but I now live in Utrecht. I really like it there because I live close to the office and love the fact that I can cycle to work every day. I’m 25 years old and my girlfriend Bianca and I have been together for 9 years. I really enjoy meat dishes, beer and good company. So if you want to make my day, just invite me to a well-stocked barbecue with friends on a beautiful summer’s evening.
Always time for a bit of fun
I studied Digital Media & Communication at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. It turned out to be a great move because they organized big projects in which we were given lots of freedom to put what we had learned into practice, which is the perfect way for me to learn. In my third year, I had to do an internship and this brought me to ValueBlue. That signaled the start of my first period with the company. During my internship, I had a great time and learned a lot. So much so that after my internship I returned to ValueBlue a few months later to work with the marketing team for one-and-a-half days a week. I then got the chance to spend my graduation year in Curaçao. Needless to say, I grabbed that opportunity with both hands, so I left ValueBlue for the second time. But three is the magic number, and after my graduation internship I again returned to ValueBlue – this time in permanent employment – and I don’t plan to leave again any time soon…
During the three different times I was at ValueBlue, I could see that the company was growing really fast. We moved to a new and bigger building and lots of new colleagues joined the company. Now we all speak English with each other and the group is more diverse. But the atmosphere is as good as ever. We all work hard but still find time for a bit of fun, which always keeps everybody cheerful.
A more complete approach
Our BlueDolphin product takes a slightly different approach to comparable products on the market, which is why I think it’s going to set the standard. BlueDolphin’s different approach enables organizations to collectively record processes, data and applications and I think this is a more complete approach than when it involves smaller groups.
I believe that ValueBlue will continue to grow in the years to come and keep spreading its wings, especially internationally. This growth is now in full swing and the steps taken to increase it are turning out to be very successful. That’s great to see. The marketing team was expanded dramatically this year and you can really notice the effect. Internationally, ValueBlue is setting the trend in the way BlueDolphin deals with Enterprise Architecture collaboration.
